About Tin Can Smartphone: we give developers a REST API for sending and receiving SMS through a real Android smartphone — also known historically as SMS-Api-Gateway.
Install the companion app on your phone, connect it to your account, then send and receive messages via the web UI or the HTTP API — using the SIM in your device as the gateway. Your number stays yours; your carrier plan remains the message meter.
Teams use Tin Can Smartphone for automation, notifications, OTP flows, and AI agents that need a phone number with webhooks and MCP tools. The cloud relays traffic; the handset does the radio work. Read more on our service overview or the API documentation.
